Make in India is an initiative of the Government of India to encourage multinational, as well as domestic, companies to manufacture their products in India. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 September 2014.
As a part of the Make in India campaign, Indian Railways has also been designing luxurious passenger coaches at the Coach Rehabilitation Workshop (CRWS) in Nishaputra Bhopal. The trial run of the first model of the rake of these Make in India railway coaches was successfully conducted last week between Bhopal and Bina railway stations.
Let’s see in detail what are the 6 awesome features of these luxurious railway coaches.
1. They are spacious, have bigger side berths and are equipped with jerk-less seats.
Side berths also have snacks tables unlike train coaches currently being used. Additionally, the seats will be made of poly vinyl material, thus being fire proof.
2. Chains for middle berths have been replaced with side support and railings.
No more uncomfortable and sleepless nights because of the chains securing the middle berths.
3. Flooring of the coaches has been painted like a carpet.
No more stained and dirty floors. Feel like walking on the carpet in the living room of your house.
4. Bio toilet systems have been installed in all coaches.
With the aim of eliminating direct discharge of human waste on railway tracks, Indian railways is also replacing toilets in coaches with environment-friendly bio-toilets.
5. Every compartment has separate mobile and laptop charging points and the seats have LED reading lights.

6. There will be fire extinguishers on both sides of a coach.
Fire extinguishers are provided in case any accidental fire breaks out in the coaches.
